The third Call to Action stemming from the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions Report reads. We call upon all levels of government to fully implement Jordan’s Principle.
Bear Witness Day is a day to draw attention to Jordan’s Principle, we must never let what happened to young Jordan River Anderson happen to any other child. And after 11 years of being adopted, Canada has still yet to successfully implement Jordan’s Principle and has received it’s third non-compliance order.
I invite you to learn more about Bear Witness Day and start events in your workplace and community on May 10th, by bringing a bear around with you, as people ask about they bear it becomes an opportunity to educate them about Jordan’s Principle and about their role we all play in reconciliation.
All Canadians, as Treaty peoples, share responsibility for establishing and maintaining mutually respectful relationships.
