Indigenous Remembrance Day ceremony

Nov. 15, 2023

Will Tait, GSU National Vice-President, Equity, attended the Indigenous Remembrance Day ceremony. Read about his experience below:

''A special thank you to Les Maiczan and Alan Craig from the PSAC NCR Indigenous Action Circle who invited me as an ally to attend the Indigenous Remembrance Day ceremony at the National Indigenous Memorial Monument on November 11. We joined First Nations, Inuit and Metis veterans and active service members of all the forces to remember those that did not come home and those who did, often carrying the physical and  psychological scars of conflict.

Up until very recently the treatment of indigenous veterans on their return from service was shameful. To learn more about the contributions of these men and women and the discrimination that these vets faced, please visit the links below.''
